It’s become a trending topic over the years, especially thanks to industry leaders like HubSpot. Here, we’re going to give our own take on what is inbound marketing.
What is Inbound Marketing?
Attract, Engage, Delight.
These are the parts that make up Inbound Marketing.
But what does any of this mean? And why should you care about Inbound Marketing?
Simply put, Inbound Marketing is a marketing method in which businesses market their businesses in ways that are relevant to their audiences.
Let’s break this down further.
This is the phase in which most people are hearing about you for the first time. By understanding your buyer personas, you will seek to create content that offers solutions to their problems and is relevant to them.
By creating, publishing, and distributing content that is relevant to your intended audiences, you will attract them to view your content.
This can be blog posts, social media posts, videos, or any other piece of content that can be used to attract them.
Once you attract your audience, you need to Engage them.
In the Engage phase of Inbound Marketing, you are seeking to have audiences engage with your content by performing intended actions.
This can be sharing posts, filling out contact forms, completing worksheets that help them solve their problems, or even becoming a customer.
Finally, we have the Delight phase.
When you Delight your audience or customers, you get them to engage in social surveys and you deliver incredibly relevant content to them through social monitoring or smart content.
This is arguably the most important phase as it is the phase in which you must maintain your brand integrity.
Whenever you are able to successfully Attract, Engage, and Delight your customers and audience, you inherently build a Flywheel model.
The Flywheel Model
A flywheel is a self-sustaining tool that practically runs itself once it has gained momentum. This is an over-simplified explanation of this, of course.
Implementing Inbound Marketing into your business creates a Flywheel model as it helps build and maintain momentum in your business.
As you Attract audiences with relevant content that provides solutions to their problems, they will engage by opting in for content that further meets their needs.
After accessing the content and being delighted at how helpful it was, they are then “attracted” to go to the next phase of business with you. So, they engage by filling out a contact form and signing up for your services. You can then “delight” them by providing a stellar service.
If they have similar problems that come up that you can fix, you can guarantee they’ll be attracted to engage with you so you can delight them yet again.
This is the magic of Inbound Marketing, and how it can drastically change your business over time.
